Sarah, a busy marketing executive, lived in a beautiful brownstone apartment with one major problem—her bathroom was stuck in the 1990s. The small 6x8 foot space had builder-grade everything: basic white tiles, a cramped shower with a plastic curtain, poor ventilation, and fluorescent lighting that made mornings miserable. She dreamed of a luxurious spa-like retreat where she could relax after long workdays, but thought her small bathroom couldn't accommodate that vision.

We proved that luxury doesn't require a large space. First, we gutted the entire bathroom down to the studs to address old plumbing and add proper waterproofing. We installed large-format porcelain tiles in soft gray on the floors and walls to create visual continuity and make the space feel larger. The old tub-shower combo was replaced with a spacious walk-in shower featuring a frameless glass enclosure, rainfall showerhead, and handheld spray wand. We added a built-in bench and recessed shelving for toiletries. Heated floors were installed underneath the tiles for ultimate comfort. The basic vanity was replaced with a 36-inch floating vanity in white with a marble countertop and modern vessel sink. A large backlit mirror replaced the old medicine cabinet, providing better lighting and making the room feel more spacious. We upgraded to a dual-flush toilet, installed a whisper-quiet exhaust fan, and added dimmable recessed lighting throughout.

Sarah's bathroom is now her favorite room in the apartment. The heated floors make winter mornings comfortable, and the rainfall shower has become her daily escape from work stress. The improved ventilation eliminated the mold issues she previously struggled with. She extended her morning routine because she genuinely enjoys spending time in the space. Property value increased significantly—her real estate agent estimated the renovation added $15,000-$20,000 to her apartment's worth. Sarah says, "I feel like I'm at a five-star hotel every single day. Best money I ever spent."
